SOLARGRASS (July, 2007)

Solar-powered street lighting

SolarGrass is an urban solar sculpture for energy generation and street lighting. The construction made of high-grade steel is 10 m high and pivot-mounted in order to gear the photovoltaic surface towards the position of the sun. The stringed membrane consists of the photovoltaic textile SolarString, which adapts itself to the substructure. The back side of the top is equipped with energy-efficient, high performing LEDs. SolarGrass is a re-design of solartechnology for the aesthetical integration in the public place.
